Wishes

Be careful what you wish for.
If you wish to be a man’s man
you might find yourself at the end
a hard-pressed man who missed
the daily frailties that soften you
allowing you to close your eyes
and rest in peace. Perhaps the
grander wish is to be a woman’s man
or a child’s man or a dog’s man.
Those are the men missed when
they are finally gone.

John, you have been gifted in ways I can’t even begin to describe. I am thankful that someone pointed me your way (I am pretty certain it was mr seth haines) Keep on spreading the love with your beautiful writing.

Every man needs to read this and apply it. I am so grateful to be married to such a man. You put it so simply and beautifully. Thanks!

Why does this remind me of Taras Shevchenko’s Don’t Envy? Influence? Lovely piece, by the way, much enjoyed.

Thanks so much! I’ll have to look up Shevchenko.

John, check out Josiah’s Fire on FB. He is a 7 year old with autism who is non verbal yet speaks wisdom through his written word. Unbelievable. I am on my knees reading his words.

Hi, Julie. I’ll have to check it out. Thank you.

Just turned my head, held back some tears, and wished my dad had read this in his early years.

[…] Read the rest. (It’s, like, a paragraph of short you guys). […]
