Uncommon Vesper

I’m a very minor prophet with astigmatic eyes and
a weakness for the female form. I’ve a few critics who
find this vulgar but I’ve read where God hath chosen the
foolish things of this world (of which I am chief) to confound
the wise. So yes, I press on.

This evening’s prophecy is this, actually its more of a plea:
Don’t disappear from the earth, you know, fly the coop.
That would just disappoint everyone. Hang in there.
Don’t let go. That’s what God said when Jesus hung
by his threads on the tree.

Don’t try and hang on to the dark, its much too boisterous
for any of us to pronounce. Hang on to the night, the night itself,
or perhaps herself. Snyder once said we’re all flowers for the void.
Okay, Gary, maybe so, but we’re still flowers.
Bloom where you’re crucified.

    “Bloom where you’re crucified.”
That just about sums it all up, doesn’t it?
Thanks John, I’ll have that line, that image, in my mind for awhile now.

Another final line that almost leaves me gasping … beautiful.

With a slight southern drawl she says: That’s a good word, John.

There was a small Catholic church just off the freeway ramp that had a steeple-length painted picture of Jesus in the center of a flowering vine. I LOVED that image. And then they painted it over with a dime-store rendition of madonna and child. Bloom where you’re crucified, indeed. Tell your critics to shove it, okay? MINOR prophet? I don’t think so, John.

What a thought-provoking poem! Questions run rampant: Does one attempt to bloom where crucified? Can such a thing be accomplished through trying? Or is the blooming the God-given result of the death of the seed of self? When we’re hanging by our threads and we yield to the dying, is that when the blooming begins? Is surrender to Christ in out crucifying the key to the bloom?

love your questions…things I need to work through myself as well. John always gets me pondering so deep and relentless

I agree! Bloom where you are crucified when attached to Jesus hanging by his threads is mind boggling.

I don’t quite understand what God is doing and attempting to say through us “minor” pixel-Prophets but I feel and sense the undeniable shift in the cosmos. I don’t understand but I want to and that seems to be the better part of the battle. Blooming.
