[Pause & Listen]

God does not lie to fascinate.
God tells the truth but does so
with both terror and compassion.
I like that about God, that both.
That plus the sense God is
quite cozy with us forgiving Him
and the world. God hasn’t done
anything wrong except tell the truth,
but exercising the freedom to forgive God
reels us farther back toward affirmation,
leaves us more at home with the world.
This is insanity on God’s part.
But God is on everybody’s side.

I loved what you wrote in the Introduction of your new book, “Know When to Hold ‘Em.” Tears came to my eyes as I related it to my friend. I want to get a copy of the book.

However, I leave the reading of some of your blog posts saying to myself, “I think I know what he meant in that post, but I’m not at all sure.” In my effort to decipher what you really said I think many times I completely lose the real meaning of what you want to convey.

I cringed when I read your statement, “This is insanity on God’s part.” I’m sure I missed what you were really trying to tell us, but I’ll just have to leave it there.

Maybe I can better understand the next one.

Hi, Lindsay. Thanks for writing down your thoughts. I read an article the other day where a man said he finally ‘forgave God.’ It was after a tragedy and he spent a lot of time angry and wrestling and all the other emotions/feelings we usually have in experiences like that. But he came out on the other side, so to speak, able to forgive God (as weird as that sounds) and grateful that God gives us freedom to that extent, to even forgive God. Does that make sense? Allowing humanity that much freedom sounds like insanity to me. But what I call insanity, God calls love…He’s on everybody’s side.

Its sorta thick, I admit. Thanks again for even reading it in the first place.

Thanks John for getting back to me. You explained, very well, what you meant and I appreciate it. I, too, have known people who have been angry or puzzled at what God was doing in their lives. They were able to come out victorious on the other side, able to “forgive” and love God.

Your writing stretches my thought processes. That’s good, I’m sure.

Have a good day and be safe!
