Epiphany – for Kara

~
I thought of you early this morning
when I looked out into the windowed sky
and saw the full phased white orb casting
enough light to rival the sun.
I thought that’s what you are to me, to us,
that although your body has slowly waned
your heart has only continued to wax,
brighter and grander in its intensity.
I sat down to capture these thoughts then rose
minutes later to gain another glimpse
of you in the night sky but you were gone.
Dawn was beginning to bleed against the cold.

Lovely, John. Forgive me if I’m not aware, but you really should consider publishing a poetry book or ten.

Your poetic words always go deep. When I see ‘ beautiful due’ waiting in my emails, it is always a gift. Thank you.

This is particularly meaningful this morning as a dear friend is experiencing a deepening mental decline. You are a masterful word-weaver.

When I sat on the couch with my coffee this morning, the light in the room was just right to create the illusion that the rungs of our stairway banister were floating mid-air, the rungs on the stairs shaded just the right degree of gray to blend with the paneling behind. I called my husband over quick, but the light was already shifting. I was so grateful to catch that glimpse of wonder. Thank you for sharing your own wonder and loss at its passing.

I do not know this woman. But I have similar thoughts to yours
whenever I think of her, which is quite often these days. Her bravery, her faith, her deep and overwhelming love for her family and friends – all of that waxes with each breath, even her last. Thank you for introducing her to me, and for loving her so well.

And I was introduced to you through Kara’s blog so know both of you only through your blogs. Yours is a beautiful gift of words, thoughts, for her and for her family as they wait for this holy pause. I’m grateful that you shared it with us.

So very heartfelt and beautiful! I do not know Kara personally but, like many of her readers, feel as if I do and am so inspired by her love of Jesus, her family, friends and her sweet, courageous spirit. I am a poet also–although I’ve not written any in quite some time. I wish you the best!

(I don’t know Kara, but I know her Jesus. I have joined the multitudes praying and watching with holy awe as Jesus prepares her to come home.)

Thank you and our thoughts and prayers are not only with Kara and her family but with all those in her faith community who are walking this journey with them. Godspeed!

Beautifully written to express Kara as being a brilliant reflection of the Son’s light…It reminds me that as the glorious rising sunshine overwhelms the moon, Kara will be called unto Himself. As the outer wanes day by day, the inner is renewed, fulfilled to overflowing, forever ~

I can’t even think of any words that come close to the profound feelings I had when I read this.

I do not know who Kara is………but these verses made me weep. All light illuminates. You have shone us her life in the most lovely way possible.

So beautifully expressed~~~and I agree – you need to publish your writings and Karas too – she is such an inspiration to a multitude of cancer brothers and sisters in helping us understand it all~~~life is constantly changing like the moon – wax and wane and necessary to also the yin and yan, good & bad, up and down, on the mountain or in the valley~ life’s opposite forces complement the learning of our lives. We continue to lift you up Kara for His healing and peace. Love and blessings to you and your family~~~

That was beautiful, poetic and so meaningful. i can’t remember when words so clearly expressed a heartfelt emotion, as those words did. I will remember them always.

Thank you, John. I was up in the night with a sick child and the moonlight called my attention to your poem and your poem called my attention to the moonlight, and both called my attention to prayer.

    I am praying……..for all of you……..
