wooing…

Have you ever noticed that sunrise
is gradual, not immediate like those
motivational help-selfers who insist we
get up and quickly turn on the lights
to reset our circadian rhythms?
Dawn is a turtled peeking over the covers,
an easy, creeping warm upon the land,
a slow stretching of new mercies.
Maybe we don’t need motivation but wooing –
a nice-and-easy as to the possible:
hey good looking, how’s about cooking
something up with me?

This is a beautifully written verse descriptive of how I view my Abba’s approach to me. He is always so gentle, allowing me all the time I need at that moment to adjust my spiritual eyes to His illuminate presence.
Thank you for articulating this so well for me!

Such slow mornings beg for coffee with kindreds…maybe soon, my friend…maybe soon.

    the dawning of affection
    a flicker growing warmer
    wooing the heart
to come on out and play
