Love Poem No.7

Of all the things we’ve meant to do
I’m most happy we’re still together.
That’s what we promised on that late
June afternoon, to grow so intertwined
only death could hope to unravel us,
and even then, seeing what a pain in the
ass that would be, death might relent
and decide to let us pass on, together.

JDB- thanks for the great post to begin my week. After 36 years of marriage i have found that when things start to unravel (before death parts us -;)- and the enemy ramps up attacks on our marriage, i am typically living in the ‘smaller-story’ where it’s all about ‘me’ However, when i choose to view unravellings (as well as many-mega-pain-in-the ass moments ) as invitations from my good Father to stay in my lane, and focus on my part in our pain-in-the-ass conflict….our marriage atmosphere (+spirit+soul+body oneness) and intimacy increases in ‘only-God’ ways.

My sentiments exactly! Ima make a greeting card out of this, John. With all due attributions and roylaties assigned, of course. :0)

Celebrating our thirteenth anniversary tomorrow – we are worn and weary and held together by the snot, slobber and other trappings of four young kids and much more too, of course. Looking forward to lighter years and brighter glue to hold us, though the moments of struggle sure do make you hold on tight.

Love this post! I hope my husband and I pass on together as well.

And the closer you get to that very real possibility, the more pain-in-the-ass it becomes. 47 and counting.
