The Test

Remember the grade school instruction
prior to every test? Keep your eyes on
your own paper. It was as hard then
as it is now, this working out your very
own salvation with trembling hands.
But practicing the art of letting people be
is a facet of loving thyself as your neighbor.
Preach the sermon, if you must, in the mirror
before giving any thought of ascending
the stage. If you don’t you’re cheating,
and you just might end up failing life.

Amen. My dad always says “you’ve gotta let people live their own life” and I find myself returning to that phrase more and more.

I’ve stopped getting your wonderful posts in my inbox and that makes me very sad. I found this through Seth’s link at ADC and I try to keep up with you via Facebook, but the subscription thing ain’t workin’ right now. And I gotta say, every time I have ever preached in my life, that sermon has been preached to me first – otherwise, I don’t speak.

Looking at another’s paper for answers is cheating. I would never have done that. But, you found me out. Looking at the answers of another to see if they got the right answer…

There is a book of these coming, right?
