Ta-Da

The kind word does more than make
someone feel better. It makes them better.
Encouraging words are earthly magic, able
to be performed by any of blood and bone.
Instead of pulling plump pink rabbits
and bouquets of daisies out of some hat,
saying hi or nice job or I like you so much
sneaks dignity into the invisible stetsons
we all wear atop our souls. The spell is
cast complete when on some humbug day
as we twiddle our thumbs waiting, we
suddenly sit up straighter, curious at the
show before us and how we got in for free.

Words of kindness, affirmation or praise are so important – especially to a writer whose love language IS words.

Yes and yes. The echoing power of word, of Word. Thanks for being one who knows the power of those words, while so freely giving them away. It makes the giving away quite holy.

Like a starry sky on a country night or an unexpected belly-laugh from a child, sometimes we are privileged to see and hear things we think we don’t think we deserve to receive, yet are food for our souls. Thank you – your words are a great reminder of the power we have in our return offering.
