Everything’s Going On
Everything’s going on. And in the midst
of it all life speaks surprising invitations.
In our disgust at being told NO as a child
we can miss the negatives of being grown:
Don’t sit in and overlook the harvest moon.
Don’t work overtime for the man that hasn’t
the foggiest notion of your soul’s language.
Don’t dawdle at reconciliation when you know
its best to shake the dust and just move on.
Don’t abide for one moment the presence
of another whose lips drip daily with shame.
Don’t pooh-pooh on happiness in the quest
for holiness for when its all said and done that
may be nothing but the semantics of terra.
Yes, life says. Everything’s going on.
this makes me want to sound a barbaric YAWP over the rooftops!
That’s a pause and think about it kind of word to which I say, Word!
Shakin the dust off as I type, well said sir.
Yeah, well. It’s the shakin’ the dust off part that trips me up, time and again. I so want everybody to like me. Somehow, I don’t think that’s a particular problem for you, so I watch in awe here.
Wow. In the words of a wise friend, ” say it!!!!!” ( a blessing to read you today)
