What Such a Claim Might At Last Entail

His was a gentleness of necessity. Not what he
should or ought to do. But what he must.
He lived as a man might live only near the end
of his life, in a way that militates against putting
off what one has to do. In his awful incongruity
he was love perishing, pure gentleness in memory
and melody, Christmas in the wilderness.
That’s what made men drop their lives and follow.

Oh, John. Oh. PLEASE tell me that you’re collecting these small glories into something that can be printed and carried in the hand. Even an ebook of your own design. I’d buy it in a heartbeat. A heartbeat.
