P.S.

I asked God the question everyone eventually asks:
Isn’t there more?

Here is what God said, not verbatim, but close enough:
No, there isn’t more. You have what you have.
You wake up, drink coffee, shit, shave, and shower.
You tend to family and dog and work and traffic,
all day long. Most nights you read a little Harrison,
and if you’re lucky get a little action to boot.
If I’m willing, you’ll do it again tomorrow.
But in all this you must remember you are a poet,
one whose job it is to make a myth out of life.
That is all I have to say on the matter.

P.S. – Its all a gift.
And this should be a good year for strawberries.

to make a myth out of life. i feel this so deeply. poetry meets reality. fiction and autobiography collide. it’s my only way to be here.

Dang, John, this one preaches. I even shave, too. I pray He’s willing to allow me to keep making myths for a long time. Love.

Beautiful poem, but there IS more. Every day presents new chances for honor, and as every Klingon knows…

    Honor is everything.

Dude, if I had been drinking coffee when I read this, I would have spit it out. You made me laugh. Don’t know if you meant to or not. Your unique turn of phrase is a gift. Good stuff.

Well, yes. Indeed you are a poet and it is a gift and it’s meant to be shared. Thank you for your obedience.
