There is an old woman who lives inside me. She does nothing but pray, day and night. Her petition is constant – that the Lord would break my heart, then break it again. Once, as a younger man, I asked her Please stop. She said I cannot, I was not a righteous woman in this world. She said You are my purgatory. We have lived symbiotically for many years now, my heart breaking, hers on the mend,my heart breaking, hers on the mend.
Many years ago when I was a young teenager, I read a book written by the founder of World Vision, Bob Pierce. It had the beautiful title of “Let My Heart Be Broken by the Things that Break the Heart of God.” Remains with me to this day.
Yea…..she lives inside me too. In about 20 years we will be one (if God in His grace gives me 20 more 🙂
