It Really Is About You

Linda always exits the church house saying
Wish my husband could’ve heard that message
or That was just the sermon for my neighbor.
Linda has never exited the church house saying
That was a word straight from God for me.
What Linda always fumbles is that the cross we are
called to bear is not someone else but ourselves.
So the main content of Linda’s prayers should be for
simple consciousness, doing the daily work of dowsing
for her own soul and then dunking herself in its depths.
Linda has ears but she always refuses to hear that,
contrary to famous first lines, it really is about her.
Linda’s a great tither, but she’s deaf as a post.

Wow. Wish Linda could read this. Oh wait.

Good thoughts, my friend. Let’s start an “Exposing Linda” campaign.

I’ve known a few Lindas in my day. Fair to say, I’ve even occasionally been a Linda. Hopefully, not too often. And not at all recently.

Oh, John, well put….I’m afraid I was a ‘Linda’ myself back in the day. Jesus, give me ears to continue to hear what the Spirit is saying to ME…..
