No Sense of Style
We’ve lost a firm sense of the appropriate,
which means we’ve lost our sense of style.
We haven’t the foggiest notion how to subdue
our grandiose impulses, so we show off
then show off some more and call it freedom.
It never occurs to us to rein in anything.
If it does we point to our national bumper sticker:
ASK FOR FORGIVENESS LATER.
We feign grief at the loss of wonder on one hand
while with the other we strangle the imagination,
babbling on and on and on instead of packing
so tight that we live lives bursting at the seams.
Amen.Civility be damned in the name of “freedom” and self expression
By God,I detest these times and the whissie of a man I can be.
You do help me to pack a little tighter, John. And for that I’m so grateful.
