Ready

I wake again to this chancy,
jumbled affair wondering if
today will simply be more of
yesterday’s news or if something
terrifying might happen, like
being visited by an angel announcing
“You will conceive and bear a song
that will from this day forward
be sung soft over each who dies,
a necessary requiem to ease the
soul across the brief stint of doubt
that lies just before the benevolence.”
Either way, Lord, I rise ready.

Good reminder that we just never know.

I love this, John! Do you know? I have 42 pages now of poems you’ve written that I really like. 🙂

Peg, your comment caused a big grin to find my face. Thank you very much. 42 pages? Wow! Might I ask if you have an absolute favorite?

It’s like this, John. For every one I read that makes it into that file, I think, “This is my favorite!” I couldn’t pick just one. You have a gift! Thank you for sharing it with me.

By the way, you’re the ONLY poet in the blogosphere for whom I have a file (other than my own poems, of course.) Have a blessed weekend and keep on writing. 🙂
