Dear Winn – 13 June 2016
Dear Winn:
I thought about writing you yesterday. It felt like a day when I needed to talk to a friend. But I couldn’t muster the strength. I couldn’t. I didn’t keep the television on all day or anything like that, but I did check my Twitter feed from time to time to track how friends and acquaintances were living the day in light of Orlando’s darkness.
Everybody’s talkin’, Winn. No one is listening.
And we trot out the “Lord, have mercy” line when we practice the antithesis of mercy on a daily, if not hourly basis.
I keep thinking of Annie Dillard’s challenge, to write that will not enrage by its triviality…
Coraggio.
